The Holy Land Delivered To Your Home (In a Box)
Disclaimer-I was gifted this box to review but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
The Holy Land Delivered by Artza
Years ago my aunt went to Israel. I still remember her coming home with tons of photos and bubbling over with information. Her trip was the closest I’ve gotten to Israel until Artza
What is Artza? It’s is a subscription service from Israel. Folks around the world can sign up and for a fee you get a box every three months full of really cool stuff!
Holly Kemph works there and she says, “Every box is hand-curated by our team in Israel. All of our artisans are local businesses that represent both the diversity of the region and of all faiths. We are a quarterly subscription box with full size high quality products directly from local Israeli artisans. Every quarter we explore a different city/region of Israel.”
Every box includes:
- Something for the soul
- Something to inspire
- Something to learn
- Something to taste
- Something to share
- Something for the body
The box in the photo above is the box I received to review. Let me tell you about some of the beautiful items in the box! I wish I could tell you about all of them but I might be up all night! I never expected there to be so many beautiful items in one box!
Jamil is the artist who carved this beautiful ornament from olive wood. Even as a child he knew he wanted to own his own business. For Jamil, olive wood isn’t just a material-it’s a calling. He says, “Wood crafting is a skill the people of Bethlehem picked up from the Crusaders in the 15th century. I love olive wood because no two pieces are the same.” I will treasure this ornament forever. Thank you, Jamil!
Anati and Sarit are two young women who came up with an idea for a new business that would draw on their passion for connecting people. They decided to make beautiful games that were meant to be played at the holiday table.
This scented candle is handmade and custom-designed and is meant to bring the smells of the Holy Land to your home. I don’t know what Bethlehem smells like but the candle smelled so good I wanted to eat it!
This is a decorative ceramic plate from the Nisson Brothers, a family owned shop in Bethlehem with more than fifty years of history. Aren’t the colors beautiful?
This is a brightly colored coaster from a set I received in the box. Isn’t it lovely?
If you look closely at the box above in the left hand corner there are postcards. The photos on these cards are really special.
A young immigrant to Israel named Rudi Weissenstein moves to the Holy Land from his native Czechoslovakia. And, with little more than a camera and a dream, Rudi soon establishes himself as the most significant photographer of young state. Over a career that spanned six decades, Rudi captured some of the most important moments in the history of Israel and amassed a collection of over one million shots of the Holy Land.
Today, his legacy is being carried on by his grandson Ben, who took over his grandfather’s store, aptly called “Hatzelmania” in Hebrew, which means the Photohouse.
