Spaghetti with Beef and Italian Sausage
Spaghetti with Beef and Italian Sausage
This is not my mom’s recipe. I have a really quick and easy recipe that was hers that I shared with you a few years ago. You can find it here.
This recipe came from my friend Peggy, who loves to cook and for some strange reason, loves to visit and bring us food. I’m not complaining. We love Peggy and what ever she brings is always delicious. It’s just that you don’t find many good cooks in the world who will bring you food, eat with you and put up with all the craziness that goes on at this house. But Peggy does so on a regular basis and we are so happy she does!
Her spaghetti recipe is more complicated than mom’s but has a delicious spicy taste that we really enjoy.
Here’s what you need to get started.
2 lbs ground beef
1 package Italian sausage (sweet)
Medium onion, minced
Prego Original Spaghetti Sauce
Italian seasoning
Dried oregano
1 can of mushrooms (drained)
Here’s what you do to make it.
Remove the sausage casings, cut into pieces and fry until cooked. Take the sausage out and drain in a colander, save grease. Return grease to skillet, add onions; add ground beef and brown it. Drain and put with sausage in sauce pan. Pour in spaghetti sauce, season with seasonings to taste.
Bring to a slow boil, simmer for 45 minutes to an hour to blend flavors.
We have doubled this recipe to feed all the folks that show up at my house for dinner. We never know exactly how many will be here but you can double the recipe without a problem.
Whats your favorite spaghetti recipe? I’d love to know!
