Rainy Weekend with the Grandchildren
Rainy Weekend
It has rained so much in Kentucky that the creeks and rivers are out of their banks. Our boys raise several hundreds of acres of soybeans and it was next to impossible to get them out of the field because it has been so wet. They actually didn’t finish the harvest until December 26th, their birthday.
We listen to the weather report almost every day and it was no surprise when the weatherman predicted, “Rain all weekend. Dropping temperatures and then rain turning to snow.”
We only got a dusting of snow here in southern Kentucky and I know many of you got much more. If all the rain we received had been snow we would still be digging out!
What do you do when you are in the house all weekend with 4 little children?
They put puzzles together.
Ate breakfast. Snacked. Ate lunch. Snacked. Ate supper. Snacked. Snacked. Snacked.
They did more puzzles, tore them up, and did it again.
This is Tucker. He tried to eat a few puzzle pieces and generally wreaked havoc amongst the kids while they played. He’s nine months old and if he were a child I would say he’s in his “Terrible Twos.” There’s nothing he won’t chew up, or try to. When he was just a few months old he swallowed a wooden star off a toy and had to have it surgically removed. His middle name is “Trouble.”
This is my son’s dog, Bo. He’s seven years old and Tucker aggravates him (truthfully, so do the grandchildren.) Bo usually runs off and hides when the littles are all here. He doesn’t like the sound of squealing children and Tucker’s tireless energy wears him out. I caught him “chilling” in my husband’s chair and snapped this photo. FYI- our grandchildren can squeal at such a high pitch that Poppa has to take his hearing aids out!
How was your weekend and what was the weather like where you live?
