Purse for Your Princess

After getting all excited about sewing last week I was so disappointed when my machine decided it had had enough! After 12 years the pedal on my machine gave out and I had to order a replacement. Then the waiting began! I have tried to fill my time as best I could but I just keep checking that order, tracking that shipping number to see if by chance there is any change and it will be here any sooner.

Waiting it hard for me. I like to keep busy, unfortunately this week I have had the wrong things keeping me busy. I have had one child with the flu, my poor lil baby girl, I knew she didn’t feel good as I wrote last week’s post. And then by oldest son had his ear drum rupture from an ear infection. So this week has been full of doctors visits, medicine, and lots of whining (the kids and me!)

In between moments of this or that, I have managed to find a few things to do. I pulled out the trusty hot glue gun and decided to burn my fingers a little more. The end result was a very excited little girl. I made her a “princess purse” with ribbon and tulle trim and she was thrilled. She has carried it around all week and filled it with everything you can imagine. Though I did notice a problem when she saw me making more and announced, “But I don’t have a pink one, or a purple one, or a yellow one…….” I think I have created a monster.

I also made something I saw on Pinterest that caught my eye. I saw a posting on how to make your own product tags, you know like those annoying ones in your clothes that itch the back of your neck! They were pretty simple to make. I designed out my “logo” on the computer and printed it in mirror image (very important – don’t forget this part or your words will be backwards on your tags) onto some iron on transfer paper. I cut them out and used my iron to heat seal them onto some pieces of ribbon!

Well, I made a few to start out and I love them, but I can’t wait to actually make something I can sew them into. Oh, well, I guess as it says in the Bible patience is a virtue and I need to have just a little more of it! So, I will find something else to do for a few more days as I play the waiting game!

Have a great weekend everyone!

  1. I love, love, love those purses. My granddaughter & her little friends would love those. The only problem I have is deciding whether or not to make them all the same color! 🙂

  2. Hi Becky! So glad you stopped by. I love hearing from you and what you have been up to, and yes my sick people are better!

  3. Fun purses. I’m sure any little girl would like one of those. I’m not in sewing mood yet. I don’t like it when thread gets wrapped in the bobbin thing below. That’s what used to happen in my old machine. I bought a used Bernina years ago and have enjoyed that. It doesn’t have embrodery on it but it sews well. Have a great day and hope all your sick people are better now!
