Inspirational Grandmothers

This morning I thought I would share some inspirational grandmother stories with you.

While channel surfing the other night I landed on ABC’s 20/20. The show was about a woman who is now 65. When she was 60 she gave birth to twin boys. That’s right….60.  I had twin boys when I was 36 and I am now 56. If someone told me I was going to have twins again when I was 60 I would probably have a heart attack on the spot!

According to this miracle mom (and grandmother) she has more energy now than she did when she was 20. If that’s really true I want whatever type of vitamin she’s taking!

You can read more about her here….

Then there is the amazing story of love and devotion about a grandmother who has cared for her grandson ever since he was a toddler and was found unconscious and floating in the swimming pool. Her grandson, Greg, is now 20 years old and she has full custody. The sacrifices she has made speaks volumes about this woman’s character.

And finally, another story about love and sacrifice, this time from England.

A young woman who has only half a working kidney says she has been given the chance of a new life by her grandmother.

Alex has had kidney problems since she was a child and underwent a transplant two years ago. That transplant failed and her only choice now is dialysis or another transplant. Alex’s 61-year-old grandmother is a match and will be donating her kidney to her granddaughter in October.  You can see a video about this story here;

  3. I think of myself as very healthy and very energetic — and trust me — I would not want another child at this time in life. I don’t think I could keep up! My hats off to the grandmothers who have to be grandmas AND full time care givers. Not an easy job!
