Be The Good Day, December 4th, 2019
Be the Good Day
What is Be the Good Day? The following explanation was written by the daughters of Martha Temple Todd.
In 2010, our mom, Martha Temple Todd, received her 3rd breast cancer diagnosis. As a wife, mother of 3 girls, and 8 grandchildren she had so much to fight for. She fought with dignity, grace and great faith. She had countless rounds of chemotherapy, lost her hair numerous times and endured brain radiation. While driving with her cousin to get yet another radiation treatment she smiled and said, “You know, every day may not be good, but there is good in every day.” We invite you to join us on December 4th, her birthday, in celebrating her life by being the good in the lives of those around you (#bethegood).
Martha was my cousin and best friend.
To say I miss her would be a huge understatement. Her life was a blessing to all who knew her. She was so good, so kind, so loving and extremely talented. For years she was a teacher and she touched the lives of countless students. After her teaching career she became a reading specialist and inspired teachers throughout her county and state.
This video was made one day while I was driving her to brain radiation. It’s a short clip but it gives you an idea of the wonderful woman she was.
In honor of Martha her girls established Be The Good Day. We find ways to do good for others. One year I took poinsettias to the nursing home. Another year I made cupcakes and sold them and donated the money to the American Cancer Society.
We would love for you to join us on Wednesday December 4th by being the good in someone else’s day! If you participate we’d love to hear what you do!

Good thoughts, Patrick!
Thank you Michele!
I love this challenge.
2019 was a year of many many friends who lost their battle with cancer, and so I’m resonating with your loss and also with the awareness that the people in our lives are gifts from God, not to be taken for granted.
Such a beautiful gift she had. Very nice. I would rather be nice and good than right.
You made me smile! Thank you Jeanna and hope you had a great day.
Thank you Lydia! She was an amazing person.
Thank you so much, Lisa!
I love this so much. What a beautiful gift to honor Martha with a Being the Good day! I already know what I’m going to do Dec 4 in her honor. 🙂
What a lovely post -and person. So sorry for your loss.
She seems like a wonderful lady and an incredible loss to everyone she touched. It’s tremendous to have this video and memory of her. Did she say something about mozzarella sticks and Coca Cola for breakfast? How about cheese curds and Diet Pepsi? I’m gong to make sure to keep my temper in check today and think of her when I’m driving and shopping no matter what kind of idiot I encounter. I’ll even top Bart Simpson who said, “I can’t promise I’ll try, but I can promise that I’ll try to try.”
