Family Weekends Without Technology

Can we go back in time? When there were family weekends without technology?

A friend of mine went to a restaurant that doesn’t have Wi-Fi. They have a sign that says, “We want you to talk to each other so we do not have the Internet.” As I looked around our den this weekend I think it might be good idea if we all disconnected occasionally. Does your family do this? Do you think we could get everyone to agree to give up their cell phones on Friday and get them back on Monday?

What if we put a basket in the center of our kitchen with a sign that says, “Check Your Cell Phones Here Upon Arrival. They Will Be Returned When You Depart.” Don’t get me wrong, I love technology but…..

My second picture of the weekend was Sunday after the  University of Kentucky basketball game which we lost to North Carolina. Our twins went outside to “cool off” and take the dogs out. I came up behind them and stole this shot. It’s a little dark but I still loved it.

So how was your weekend? If you are from North Carolina I’m guessing you had a good weekend. Kentucky Cat’s fans….it wasn’t so good. But looking at my guys, I’m thinking I’m really a winner even though my basketball team lost.

This is a blog hop. Would love for you to link up and leave a comment!

  1. Sadly we don’t disconnect like we should! It would be a tough change, but a good one. I love the photo of your twins. I would’ve stolen it, too!

  2. I’m with you 100% on the technology I hate walking a busy street with pei=ople tapping on their phones heading straight for you not looking where their going arrrrghhh! LOL

    Have a technolesstastic week 🙂

  3. I love the idea of that restaurant’s sign. And they get to save on not having to fund a broadband connection for the restaurant. I have a rule os no electronic devices during mealtime. I know I can get everybody’s attention in the house if I turn off the router 🙂

  4. I guess I’m lucky, my grandchildren’ parents limit their cell phone use, and when they visit the phones stay home. They are still really young, though,
