Easter 2011

It probably won’t surprise you to know that there are lots of people who think Easter is just about chocolate bunnies and plastic eggs.  While I don’t have anything against chocolate bunnies (except that they are fattening), I don’t particularly like plastic eggs. Call me nostalgic but I prefer coloring real eggs the old fashioned way.

My sweet granddaughter coloring her eggs.

She loved putting stickers on them and putting them in their houses.

The only bad thing about using real eggs is when you “lose” one in your house. After awhile they start to smell….okay, stink!

Why We Celebrate Easter

I do find it heartbreaking that some children are never told what Easter is really about. I’m so thankful that I was raised in a Christian home and taken to church on a regular basis. I can’t remember a time when I didn’t know about Jesus and his death, burial and resurrection.

So this Gratituesday I’m giving thanks for the reason we have Easter. I found this video on You Tube and since I am an Elvis fan, I thought it was a nice way to share the Easter story. Blessings to you from NanaHood!

  1. I found the prize egg at school when I was in 2nd grade. It was a real goose egg wrapped in Reynolds Wrap. I was so proud that I put it in my little white purse and took it to church on Sunday. And then the next Sunday. I still remember riding to church in the back seat praying that nobody would notice the terrible smell coming from my little white purse. Kim told on me and Mama made me toss my prize egg. I don’t know how long I would have kept my prize egg if nobody made me get rid of it…

  2. Love the picture of your granddaughter and her eggs. The eggs are so cute and the little houses. The video was so heart warming. What a way to start the day. Thank you. 🙂
