Duck Dynasty’s Phil and Miss Kay

Last week Phil and Miss Kay visited our community. The event was a fund raiser for the YMCA and the high school gym where the event was held was packed. My husband and I watch Duck Dynasty every Wednesday night on A&E and we were thrilled to be able to go see them in person. It was so much fun and our 8 year old granddaughter enjoyed it too. After Phil spoke our granddaughter looked at us and said, “Phil really opened up his heart, didn’t he?”

She was right….he did.

Evidently we aren’t the only family who enjoys the show. Last week’s one-hour Season Four premiere drew a staggering 11.8 million viewers to rank Duck Dynasty as the number one nonfiction series telecast in cable history.

  1. I do believe you are from my old hometown community where I grew up, raised my children and taught for 19 years! I recognize that burgundy and gold gym where both of my girls played basketball. And, I know DD was there recently. I highly appreciate what these people are doing and how they are standing up for what they believe. I also love that my community supports them so much, mostly for what they believe. Your little one sounds very smart. enJOYed you post and thanks for hosting. btw, I also enJOYed your article in the mag for several years.

  2. I have never seen the show but I know people are crazy about it. Maybe I should check it out! I hope the fundraiser was a success.
    Happy WW!

  3. I think that’s why DD is so popular … the people are real…not cardboard rich, spoiled people mugging for the camera. Glad you all had a good time!

  4. I checked out the show a while back and it was just funny! I will have to watch it again!
I’m sure it was great to see them in person!

  5. How cool! My son just introduced us to Duck Dynasty on A&E. We’ve watched some old episodes. Love the show! They are so down to earth and funny!

Thanks for sharing the candid shots!

  6. Yes,I agree. The criticism I hear most often is “the show is scripted.” So what? You can tell that they are who they are and that comes across on camera. I love it!
