Chip and Joanna Gaines – Decorating Made Fun!

Chip and Joanna Gaines are my imaginary friends. I’ve been fans of theirs since my daughter got me hooked on HGTV a few years ago. I’ve watched their show, Fixer Upper, and seen them decorate hundreds of houses. They just make decorating look fun! When they announced they were having another baby I felt like I should send a gift. That’s what friends do, right?

So why this fascination with them? They have great taste and I love seeing how they transform the houses from blah to beautiful! But besides that they are fun to watch. They are playful with each other but not too goofy. They seem to love what they do and love each other.

When I learned their show was no longer going to be on television (unless you count re-runs) I was heartbroken. Yes, there are other great home decorating shows (Property Brothers), but Chip and Joanna were definitely my favorites. I understand why they decided to stop filming. With 5 children (including a new born son) they are most certainly busy. I can’t imagine the stress of raising a family plus filming a successful television show. I’m sure it’s hard keeping their private life private.

Magnolia Market

My cousin moved to Texas and my first question to her was “How far will you be from Magnolia Market?

Waco, Texas is where Joanna and Chip opened Magnolia Market. It is a home decor store that features a unique collection of inspiring design items. Located downtown in a renovated area, Magnolia Market at the Silos has a broad range of home decor, gifts, and antiques.

While I haven’t visited the store, my cousin, Kiera Todd has. I asked her to share her photos and her thoughts about the market.

These photos were from 2 different girls trips. We loved just walking around and taking in all the things. Everyone is so excited to be there it’s just fun watching the people and hearing how far people travelled to be there. Both times I’ve been there I have seen Joanna’s mom there just walking around the store. They are very much a part of the experience. The outside part is my favorite. They have a big square that is covered in turf and have corn hole, bean bags, picnic tables, huge porch swings… it’s just fun to hang out there. It is lined in food trucks so it’s fun to get lunch and just relax. We always eat at the Cheddar Box which is “ gourmet grilled cheese” but absolutely amazing! The girl who owns and started that food truck is a friend of ours that grew up with us in Milton so that’s always a treat! The cupcakes are the famous Silo Bakery cupcakes. They have a bakery at the silos and the line is always wrapped around the building but they also have a food truck selling them so that’s where we always get ours.

The pic in front of the Magnolia Seed & Supply is their “gardens” when we were there in September everything was in bloom and it was just gorgeous to walk around and look at.

Kiera, my cousin, is the one on the far right. Aren’t they the cutest group of girls?

The Magnolia warehouse shop was their original store before the Silos came into the picture. So it is a little bit down the road from all the other stuff but they basically take last seasons stuff there and you can buy it for much cheaper.

I think the biggest shock going there is that it’s not very big. If you walked thru it all you can probably cover everything in about 15-20 mins. So it’s actually pretty small but of course you can go and spend all day looking thru the details. It’s a fun girls trip and there are fun shops around the town that are also neat to go into.

While I haven’t been to visit Chip and Joanna (yet) I am a fan of theirs and of their decorating so much so that I started a Pinterest Board dedicated to them. I hope you will check it out and enjoy seeing what all they create.

Do you like Chip and Joanna’s taste in furniture and decorating? Have you been to their store?

  1. Looks like a fun place to visit. Very nice. Thanks for sharing it and those cakes look wonderful. Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful week.

  2. I haven’t been, but I’d love to go visit my “friends,” Chip and Jo! 😉

  3. Beautiful presentation on those desserts, I don’t know what they are but I want one (or two). I don’t think I’ve watched any home renovation shows for some time. I used to enjoy them when I was at the fitness center on a treadmill or bike so that has been some time. I enjoyed myself when I was driving around Texas but didn’t see any shops like this. The Magnolia store here is for high-end speakers and entertainment center stuff.
