Fredericksburg, Virginia – A Fun Place to Visit
Fredericksburg, Virginia
This was my second visit to Fredericksburg, Virginia and I think I enjoyed this trip even more than the first time I visited! You can read about the first visit here and here.
For one thing the weather was absolutely gorgeous this time (October) and the last time I was there (February) it was much cooler. But the weather has nothing to do with the amazing town itself. There are so many quaint little shops and fun things to do there that I could go back again and again.
All along the streets there were huge pots of flowers and ferns with fall decorations.
I sat on a bench and did some people watching (one of my favorite pass times). I just loved soaking in my surroundings and this town was full of fun stores and interesting people.
The bench I sat on was dangerously near a chocolate shop and of course I couldn’t resist because….
Don’t these spooky treats look delicious? I wanted to bring some of these home for the grandchildren but they were a tad bit expensive and might have melted before I got them home. So my husband and I bought ourselves three each and I ended up eating most of them to his dismay. I warned him not to leave chocolate around me and he waited too long to eat his so I helped him.
There was a huge mural and I asked Jessi (my son’s girlfriend) to pose in front of it. She looks really cute with bees buzzing around her head, except the poor thing had holes all in her jeans. Just kidding, I know they are supposed to be there. Wouldn’t my grandparents be amazed that people actually want holes in their jeans? I can remember my grandmother working so hard to patch holes in clothes!
This cool cat in a jewelry store was named Picasso. He didn’t seem to mind me taking pictures of him and so I snapped away before I looked at the jewelry. I loved the blue necklaces to the left of the cat.
Across the street I saw this tattoo shop and had to laugh at the name. That’s another thing my mom or grandmother definitely wouldn’t have understood. I know guys in the military had tattoos back in their day, but girls with tattoos? My mom would have thrown a hissy fit if I had come home with a tattoo. If you have never seen a southern woman throw a hissy fit it isn’t a pretty sight!
Now that I’ve given you a small snapshot of the town of Fredericksburg, watch for upcoming posts on the old time apothocary we visited as well as a post about the Battle of Fredericksburg.
If you are ever in the Washington D. C. area I would encourage you to check out all the surrounding towns. There is so much to do and see!
