Christians are Cool

In Texas the Christianpost.com reports that a Wisconsin group is trying to remove Nativity scenes.

In California there may be no nativity scene in a Santa Monica Park for the first time in nearly six decades.

The other night on a television show called The Good Wife, the mother went berserk (not in a good way) when she learned her teenage daughter had been studying the Bible.

And what about Tim Tebow? He’s been mocked and criticized for being a Christian on the football field and off.

Do you notice a pattern here? For some reason society has decided that being a Christian just isn’t cool. Christians are portrayed as either right wing radicals or zealots. We are either a joke or considered out of touch with reality. Very rarely do you see Christians portrayed in a positive light by the media.

I remember someone saying “you are what you eat.” Well, Christians are what they believe.

Some will tell you what they believe if you ask them. Some will tell you even if you don’t ask them. I am a writer and so I will write what I believe.

I believe that the Bible isdivinely inspired and is a guide book from earth to heaven.

I believe that God sent his only son, Jesus, to save us from our sins.

I believe Jesus was born of a virgin.

I believe he performed miracles and lived a sinless life.

I believe that he was crucified and died, then was raised from the dead three days later.

And I believe he is coming again.

I believe there are only two choices for eternity; heaven and hell.

I know where I want to go and that’s one of the reasons being a Christian is cool, very cool.

And further more…

I think nativity scenes are beautiful and a reminder of Christ’s humble birth.

I think Tim Tebow is a great kid and I think his parents did an awesome job. The fact that Tebow makes the news for being a Christian and sharing his faith is not surprising when you consider that most athletes in the news have been arrested for drugs, guns, violence or all three. Tebow lets his light shine on the field and off and is a good example for Christians like me who are sometimes shy about sharing my faith.

So now you know what I believe, plus what I think. You may not feel better, but I do.

As always, thanks for listening.
