Nana of the Week-Tona

Please say a big TEXAS HOWDY to Tona!

1. What do your grandchildren call you and did you choose your title or did they?

Answer: My Grand-babies call me Nana. My daughter chose this name for me while she was pregnant.

2. How many grandchildren do you have and how old are they?

Answer: I have 2 granddaughters. Adrienne Jolee, who is 6 and Caleigh Marie who is almost 5

3. What is your favorite thing to do with your grandchildren?

Answer: We love to play with barbies and do any type of crafting, painting and drawing. Playing dress-up. We also play outside and go on “treasure” hunts for pine cones, leaves, rocks to build little fortes for dinosaurs and fairies.

4.How do you communicate with your grandchildren? Phone, Facebook, twitter, text?

Answer: I talk with them on the phone. But I am able to see them often.

5. What do you wish you could do with them but haven’t gotten to do yet?

Answer: I want to take them to Disney in Florida. Since they are both young I have years of things I want to do with both of them, just as I did with my daughter..

6. If you could change one thing about the world your grandchildren live in, what would it be and why?

Answer: I see that children now a days seem to have to grow-up so fast. I wish they would be able to slow down and be kids longer, that life wouldnt have to be so serious so fast for them. When I was a child we did so much more. without cable tv, cellphones, xbox, fear of kidnappings. We road our bikes all over town with our friends and played from dawn to dusk. This has been lost, I wish this could be brought back, not only for my grandbabies, but for all the younger generations.
7. What traits or characteristics do your grandchildren have that you recognize from their parents?

Answer: Both of the girls are very artistic, which comes from mom. The oldest Granddaughter talks like chatty Kathy, like her mom. Again the oldest wants to be a Dr. like her Dad and looks like her dad. The younger grandbaby is more stubborn like her dad, even to the point of crossing arms and standing her ground. Both have facial features that stem from my side of the family.
8. What do you like best about being a grandparent?

Answer: I love that as a grandparent I can be more laid back and not worry about making mistakes like being a parent. We get to play so much more!!!
9. Where do you live and what do you like best about living there?

Answer: I came from a small town and raised my children in a small town. Now living in the Houston, TX area we can do so much more like going to water parks, going to the ocean, museums, balls games, Rodeo, all types of resturants, tons of parks, and not have to drive very far to do any of it.
10. What’s your grandchildren’s favorite foods (please include a recipe!)

Answer: This may seem odd but neither of my grandbabies have 1 specific favorite food at this time, They have so many choices. My daughter is a fabulous cook too. When they visit me I do usually have fruits on hand and popcorn, juice boxes, as they have been raised to think this is some type of “candy”. We all avoid giving them candy as much as possible. This is also something I raised my daughter to think when she was very young 😉
