Gratitude -The Month of November

Gratitude

When you think of November what comes to mind? For me it’s Thanksgiving and how important it is to be grateful. A few years ago I wrote a post called “Thanksgiving in the Corner” and I still feel the same way about things now as I did back then. If anything, the way we treat Thanksgiving has only gotten worse.

Once a day throughout November I’m posting something I’m thankful for on NanaHood’s Facebook page. I would love it if you would join us there, like our page and leave a comment about something you are thankful for.

In the spirit of gratitude I’m posting some thoughts for you here that I hope you enjoy!

There is a story about a blind man that I want to share with you. He was sitting on city street with a sign that said, “I am blind” and a hat in his lap. Busy people were hurrying by and a few dropped coins into the hat. One man dropped a coin and then asked if he could see the blind man’s sign. “I think this will help you,” he said. He wrote on the back of it and handed the sign back to the blind man. Soon more and more people were putting money in the blind man’s hat. Curious the blind man asked someone what was written on his sign. “It says, Today is a beautiful day but I can’t see it.”

Both signs told the truth but the second sign reminded people of how grateful they should be for their sight.

What are you grateful for today?

  1. That’s so sweet Carol! Blessings to you. Wish you could have seen the trees in Kentucky this year. They were amazingly colorful! Unfortunately we have had storms and they are losing leaves like crazy!

  2. November also evokes thoughts of gratitude and thanksgiving for me, Teresa. I like all your quotations and the story at the end of your post. Gratitude certainly makes life richer and happier. I am grateful for my family, for my health, and for all the natural beauty I see around me every day. They are all blessings.
