Fish Pond Visit

Fish Pond Visit

When I was a young girl a lady at our church had a gold fish pond in her yard and I remember going to visit her. I was fascinated with the fish. Evidently I wasn’t the only one because one of my cousin’s fell in the pond.

I have a friend who has a pond in her back yard complete with a small waterfall and full of brightly colored fish. The grands and I went for a visit. They were utterly fascinated, wanted to feed them and even though they would have liked to get into the pond, they managed to restrain themselves.

“Look, there’s one!”

It was a very hot day and the water looked cool. I’m sure they wanted to jump (or fall in) but they didn’t. They loved the bright colors.

“That one is huge!”

This one was definitely King of the Fish Pond. I guess he was older and I’m sure he could eat a lot of fish food!

There were also teeny, tiny tree frogs around the pond and house and the grands loved trying to catch them. They were determined to bring them in the car and take them home and I was determined they wouldn’t. When we finally left they begged to go back. Hopefully we can go again real soon!

There is a poem about what little boys are made of and it says, “Snips, and Snails and Puppy Dog tails.” I suspect my granddaughters have some of that in them too!

How about your grands? Do they like to investigate bugs, catch frogs and feed the fish?
