Children Making Valentines for Veterans

Making Valentines for Veterans

The children at our church have been busy the past week or so making Valentines for Veterans.  Not only does it teach them about the importance of saying “Thank you,” we also talk to them about serving our country and how soldiers keep America safe.

Stickers or Finger painting

When it came to the actual decorating we gave them several choices. This little guy is finger painting dots on his valentine. Looks like he’s got all his “dots in a row!”

Kids Love Stickers

These two gals are cousins. They preferred stickers to painting. I hope our veterans like stickers…lots and lots of stickers.

Change of Heart

Then they decided that maybe painting would be fun after all and it was!

This little dumpling just watched and enjoyed eating her fingers.

Hope your week is off to a great start! I can’t believe January is almost gone and February is here. More Valentines posts this week to get you thinking of things you can do with your grandchildren to celebrate!

Here are some other folks who do Valentines for Veterans. And here’s one more!

That is such a wonderful idea. I bet the kids and especially the recipients found the experience special. My mother got a Chrismas card from a little one from a local Catholic school and cherishes it.

No set design. We just picked out a few simple things and let them choose. You could do it locally and take valentines to your local VFW club.

Do you have a set design for them to copy, or was it open ended and they could do whatever they wanted? It’s a fantastic project, and for a nice cause.
