20 Years Ago Today

When I was four months pregnant for the fourth time I kept waking up in the middle of the night and I couldn’t catch my breath. One night I dreamed I was smothering. I told my doctor and he scheduled an ultra sound.

“I know why you can’t breathe,” he said as he looked at the screen. “There are two babies in there.”

“What?”

I looked at the screen and he pointed to two little circles. “See, there are two heads.”

My husband and I were speechless. We had two boys and a girl already and the idea of having two more was a little overwhelming.

“Can you tell if they are girls or boys?” I asked.

“Definitely boys,” he said with a laugh and showed me on the screen how he could tell.

“Four boys,” I mumbled. “The toilet seat will never be down.”

The doctor laughed but my prophecy was correct. The toilet seat has never stayed down at our house. When you live in a house with as many guys as I have there are certain things you can count on.

The television channel of choice is always ESPN.
The laundry room is always full of dirty clothes.
Flatulence is always funny.
Our house is always full of love.

Happy 20th Birthday Russell and Grant! We love you very, very much!

Celebrating their birthday at a Predators vs. Red Wings game!
