Lookout Mountain and the Kentucky/Georgia Girls

Lookout Mountain

Every year a group of us girls get together for a weekend. There are three of us from Kentucky and three from Georgia. We went to high school and college together and over the years our friendship has weathered the test of time. We’ve been through a lot together (and separately) which makes the napkins one gal brought even funnier!

Usually I am the one in charge of finding us a place to stay but this year someone else found us a house to rent and boy did she pick a winner. It was on top of Lookout Mountain in Tennessee and it was absolutely gorgeous!

Before I left I had a little bit of help packing my bag. They were so cute I wanted to take them with me.

When we get together we have so much catching up to do that we usually unpack and then sit and talk, eat, talk more and never leave the place we are staying. We may not be 16 years old but when we are together we ACT like we are 16 again.

When we weren’t talking or acting silly (which wasn’t often) we were looking at this view. The view was so pretty we used Uber Eats so we didn’t have to leave for food!

The house we stayed in was very nice but the view……was amazing.

We enjoyed it from the deck while we ate breakfast, lunch and supper. We talked, listened to music on Pandora, looked at the view and talked some more.

Lookout Mountain has lots of interesting history. Something you won’t find in the history books though is that my parents honeymooned there in 1956 when they went to see Rock City. At that time SEE ROCK CITY was written on the side or top of every barn in Tennessee and Kentucky. Evidently it was very effective advertising!

This is a blog hop and I would love for you to link up and leave a comment! Have you ever been to Lookout Mountain or Rock City?

  1. Beautiful views form your mountain! The town of Golden, Colorado, also has a Lookout Mountian. It was used by the Ute native Americans to look down at the plains for animals to hunt. Later, the Wild West star Buffalo Bill, was buried on the top of the mountain and his grave is one of the most visited tourist sites in the area.
