Christopher Robin – Why You Should Go and Take the Grandchildren
Christopher Robin and Pooh
When my brother was a little boy he had a stuffed dog he named Arf-Arf. He and Arf-Arf went everywhere together. In fact, because they spent so much time together Arf-Arf lost most of his fur and his ability to squeak. My brother and his stuffed animal had a childhood friendship that was supposed to last forever, and that’s the kind of friendship Christopher Robin and Pooh had.
In this movie Christopher Robin has grown up and forgotten his inner child. He’s also confused his priorities and is choosing work over his family. Unfortunately this is a scenario that’s all too common in our society today. Occasionally a movie comes along that reminds us of what is really important.
Ewan McGregor plays Christopher Robin and does an outstanding job. He’s best known (at least at our house) for playing Obi-Wan Kenobi in the first three Star Wars episodes. I think audiences will love him and his relationship with Pooh.
Christopher Robin is the sweet, touching tale of a renewed friendship and a reminder of what matters. I hope every grandparent will grab a grandchild or two or three, and go see this delightful movie when it comes out August 3rd.
I know I’ll be going and taking my grandchildren and if my brother will let me borrow Arf-Arf, I may take him too.
