I think one of the reasons that teachers are the most satisfied is that we get daily reinforcement from our students. Everyone needs to feel that what they do matters to someone, and most of us don't come home and have our mate say how wonderful we are doing at our jobs. Teachers get hugs, smiles, thank yous and the most rewarding time is when you can make a child's day. Whether its helping them understand a concept, or letting them know that they matter to somebody, these are the things that make a teacher's job worthwhile. I only wish that parents realized that teachers just want the best for their child. Sometimes the hardest part of the job is dealing with parents! Now, I'll get off MY soapbox!
