Picking Daffodils With Grandchildren

Daffodils are one of my favorite flowers. They are called Narcissus and you can read about them here.

When I was a little girl they grew in several different places on my grandparent’s farm and Grandma Layne and I picked them together.

One reason I like them is they bloom early and signal spring is coming. I love taking my grandchildren to pick them and this year I have managed to get 3 out of the 6 to the field where we pick. I’ll get the other 3 there eventually!

I like them yellow but the grandchildren love to put them in a vase and add food coloring to watch them change colors.

Picking flowers is a lot of work but he enjoys it! Can you tell?

I love the sweet expression on her face.

They look so little in a sea of green in yellow!

Look how the little one is holding his flowers. By the time we got home and I put them in the vase I had to put the one’s I picked with his to make enough for a bouquet for his mother. They were so proud of their flowers and couldn’t wait to give them to their mothers! Pure love!

What is your favorite spring flower? Do you take your children or grandchildren to pick Daffodils?

I love spring perennials. It is so nice having flowers come up after a long winter without any flowers.

We have lots of them by the seafront!!! We’re not allowed to pick them up though hehe. They are lovely and a sign that spring is upon us.

Love, love, love your photos! Thanks so much for sharing. As for me I don’t pick flowers mainly because I’m allergic to bee stinks. I don’t take chances.. so is my son. With it running in the family like that I wouldn’t take the chance of taking one of my grandchildren. 🙁 But I can admire yours! Have a great day!

I love daffodils as well but we have a long time until they bloom in Michigan. My other favorite is Lilly of the valley. They always smell so nice.

I also love daffodils but I’ve never seen them growing wild here. We do have many wildflowers that fill the fields in Colorado, but I don’t pick them, as they need to reseed after blooming. I do take many photos of them so that I can savor them later in photos.

What gorgeous shots – you create some pretty fabulous memories with your grandkids. They’ll treasure them. As for poor old Narcisis, he was just born too early – if he’d had an iphone back then, he would have been completely normal!
