Nana’s Dream

Last night….

Nana: Abby tomorrow is a holiday.

Abby: I know. It’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Nana: How did you know that?

Abby: My teacher told me and she knows everything.

I didn’t say it but I did think to myself,  “I am a teacher, Abby, and believe me, teachers don’t know everything!”

King was all about change for the better, equality and justice and that’s what I tried to emulate and expound upon today in Nana’s Dream. I hope you find a few things to “amen” as you read along.

Nana’s Dream

I have a dream that one day that all people of this nation will believe in their hearts that all men, women and children are created equal, no matter what nation they live in or what color their skin is.

I dream of a world where there is no cancer. Where there will be no need for chemotherapy or radiation. Where there will be no hospital rooms filled with cancer patients. Where the words children and cancer are never connected.

Types of Childhood Cancer

I dream of a world where no child goes hungry and each one goes to sleep feeling safe in a clean bed with a roof over their head.

I dream of a world where every child grows up knowing they are loved and valued.

I wish every child had a nana to love them like I do Abby!
I wish every child had a nana to love them as much as I do Abby!

I have a dream that one day this nation will have the courage to reclaim the religious principals of our forefathers and display them proudly. That we will be respectful of other faiths, but will never tolerate evil in the name of diversity.

I have a dream that families will focus on ways to spend more time together and that the pursuit of happiness will take them to church.

Church

I have a dream that one day my children and grandchildren will live in a world that not only remembers the greatest commandment, but lives it accordingly.

“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

That’s my dream….

What’s yours?
