It’s springtime in Kentucky and I am loving it! The birds are singing the crickets are chirping and the daffodils are blooming! Spring is my favorite time of year and my granddaughter and I made this year’s spring even sweeter by adding special touches to a Marie Callender’s Coconut Creme Pie and you can too!

Our favorite Marie Callender’s pie is coconut and it’s delicious because they use high-quality ingredients to create desserts that smell, taste and look just like homemade so that we can slow down and savor the moment with our family.

My oldest  granddaughter, Abby, and I stopped and picked daffodils in a field close to my house. With Easter just around the corner my we decided to turn our pie into a real Easter treat! With five grandchildren (ages 2,3,4,5 and 11) Abby and I decdied the little ones would love an Easter pie!

The younger grandchildren love my snow globe bunny and so far it’s made it through two Easters without getting broken (it’s come close several times). They also love hiding and playing with eggs so I let them. Who says we have to wait until Easter? Of course they look inside the eggs to see if there is anything there but I told them that doesn’t happen until the actual “official Egg Hunt.”

Abby loves helping me in the kitchen and she’s with Nana enough to be a regular on NanaHood. Watch as she works her Easter magic on this Marie Callender’s pie!

Gathering the supplies, decorating the pie and spending quality time with made for a wonderful and rewarding afternoon. Abby is so kind and considerate to all the little ones and they all look up to her. I’m rather proud of her, can you tell?

I  can’t wait to see the little grandchildren’s faces when they see Abby’s Marie Callender’s Coconut Creme Pie and even better will be when they get to eat it! You can bet there will be loads of pictures of pie-eating grandchildren!

  1. I’ve never thought of embellishing a store-bought pie like that! So clever! I’m going to have to do this with my grandkids!
