Making Memories on a Monday at NanaHood

I may have mentioned before that my sister-in-law is an amazing person. Just in case you didn’t know that, she is.

She’s full of energy and runs wide open 24/7.  She’s principal at our high school and you would think that on weekends she would rest, but nooooo. She invites her whole family over for dinner and she’s such a great cook that when she asks, “Would you like to come over for dinner, people from four different counties come running!

Can you believe how much food there is?

By the way, she’s also a yard sale queen and the two silver dishes on the end were $5 bargains. She likes to decorate too and this turkey (made from a gourd) was on the table where I ate. Isn’t he adorable?

One of my sons took a look at the spread of food and said, “We are still having Thanksgiving aren’t we?” He was worried this was a replacement dinner. It wasn’t. Just a prelude. Besides everything else Kelly does she is known far and wide for her wonderful desserts. This one was such a big hit I know she will have to make it again.

If I can catch Kelly (remember, she goes in dead run all day and I maintain a slow crawl) I will get her recipe for this and add it later today.

If Kelly ever invites you to dinner (aka feast) cancel your other plans and come running. She’s awesome!

  1. Mmmmmmm it all looks so yummy. Hubby is out of town on business and I haven’t cooked for myself! You have made me hungry.

The chocolate chip cookies and ice cream is a favorite in our family too. We call them Pazookies. The trick is to keep the cookies a bit under baked and serve them right out of the oven. We bake ours in individual crocks, then top with the ice cream and syrup.

  2. I grew up in a small house, too. One thing I remember is being able to lie in bed and hear my parents talking in the next room. I couldn’t hear what they were saying, but I would fall asleep to the soft rise and fall of their conversation.

  3. Kelly Bell is doing a great job at MCHS. I witnessed that first hand on Veterans Day. The program was awesome and she had complete attention of those students. She was so sweet to the visiting Summer Shade Elementary Students and made them feel so special and welcome.
