In Search of The Perfect Family Vacation

Every family has their favorite happy place. Some prefer the mountains and some like amusement parks. We enjoy those too, but our happy place has always been the beach. A few months ago the nice folks at ResortQuest by Wyndham Vacation Rentals and Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce invited me to come visit and write about how great their community is. Of course I said yes and they were right. Our family loved the area and voted it the perfect place for a family vacation.

Family vacation-Water tower on Okaloosa Island

Fort Walton is on Okaloosa Island and is surrounded by the ocean and beautiful boats and yachts. Our family travels in a herd (three car loads) and we stayed in two condominiums in the lovely Waterscape Resort. Multi-generational travel isn’t for everyone but by respecting each others privacy and being willing to split up and do individual activities, we had a great time.

Waterscape Condominiums

We absolutely loved Waterscape!Family Vacation-Waterscape chairs

The beach was fabulous but because we had so many little ones (ages 2 months, 2, 3, 4) what they really enjoyed was the pool, or should I say pools? There were plenty of choices for where to swim.

The most popular pool with our younger grands though was this one.

It was so much fun watching the little ones play and have fun. I looked at my son-in-law and said, “They are having fun and we don’t have to do anything! Isn’t this wonderful?” He closed his eyes and smiled and whispered, “Heavenly.”k on slide-family vacationThis little missy loved the slide and went down it approximately ten thousand times (seriously). The slide was made from something soft so even if they did flop down it, it didn’t hurt.

This is another granddaughter and you can tell by her smile she loved the pool too. Look at the slide in the background and the turtle squirting water. There was something for every child to slide on, sit on, or play with!

And this little guy is my grandson and while he doesn’t look happy in this picture, he had a blast too! Waterscape is definitely an awesome place for children.

Tomorrow will be Part 2 of our trip to Fort Walton Beach. Be sure and come back to see what else I’m going to show you!
