Heartbreak in Haiti

Random thoughts during Less of Me Month.

1. One of the first things I do every morning (after I get my coffee) is turn on my computer (surprise, surprise) and read the morning news. The pictures and video clips from Haiti following the devastating earthquake are heartbreaking. People are lying in the streets. The number of dead and wounded keeps rising. Many are still trapped beneath buildings and are crying out for help. Please, take just a moment and visit the following link. Even if all you do is send pocket change….send something to an organization listed at one of the sites below.

3.  I just learned last night that BlogHer has an article about NanaHood. You can read it here:  Marketing to Moms Means Marketing to Grandmoms Too | BlogHer Now, grandmothers can join the NanaHood by logging on to TheNanaBlogs.com, an online community for grandmoms and moms to learn about technology

4. And finally, PLEASE send me your stories! What is the nicest thing someone has ever gone out of their way to do for you!  Tell me about it.

Blessings to you!

  1. A few years ago we wanted the exterior of our house painted. Roger, a friend of ours, said he would do it. We supplied the caulking and paint. He power washed one day then caulked what needed to be caulked. Then the next day he sprayed our house with paint (double wide manufactured home). And the 2 car garage. We invited him in for lunch. We had a nice visit. In the end, we asked what amount we could pay him. He wouldn’t take any amount of money for it. We had told him upfront we’d pay him and to name his price. We were astounded at his generosity. We gave him some cookies later. This man is tireless in helping other people. A heart of gold.

Unfortunately, this past year, Roger has had medical problems. Right now he’s battling cancer. It’s so sad to see him this way, after all he’s done for others. I know he’s done it in God’s name but still it’s sad to see this change. He remains to be positive about everything. I’d ask prayer for him and his brother and sis-in-law, Dennis and De’anna, good friends of ours as they help him thru this.
