Gratituesday-The Gift of an Ordinary Day

A few weeks ago my good friend Julie recommended I read a book called The Gift of an Ordinary Day by Katrina Kenison. I downloaded it in my Kindle and I’ve been mesmerized ever since. Why? Because she says what I am feeling (or have felt).

When my mother was diagnosed with colon cancer, and all throughout the last year of her life I yearned for “the gift of an ordinary day.”

Every small thing in life is beautiful. Every mundane uneventful day spent with the people I love is precious.

Every day I want to make sure I give someone a hug and a smile of encouragement.

And I want to make sure the people I love KNOW that I love them.

So, to my community I say, “I love you and I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else!”

Metcalfe is one of counties in Kentucky. We are small but we are proud!

To my friends and neighbors- I love you! Thanks for making our little town a special place where folks enjoy the simple pleasures, like decorating their barns!

Wish you could see these barns close up! Even the sides are decorated!

Thank you Lord for the gift of an ordinary day in an extraordinary world!

  1. Great post! It seems sometimes that people have nothing but negative things to say about their families, their communities and even their country!

  2. That is so beautiful!!! and so very true; young mamas sometimes haven’t gotten the message yet, and this should be “required viewing” for all. Thanks for sharing.
