Funny Grandchildren Quotes

I have always loved quotes and grandchildren can say some pretty entertaining things. Sometimes poignant, frequently funny and always, always they speak the truth as they see it. If you are old enough to remember Art Linkletter’s show he had a segment called, “Kids Say the Darnedest Things.”  He also wrote a book by that same title. Here are a few of his funniest quotes. I can just imagine my grandchildren saying these things….can’t you?

From Linkletter’s book ….

My young grandson called the other day to wish me Happy Birthday. He asked me how old I was, and I told him, 62. My grandson was quiet for a moment, and then he asked, “Did you start at 1?”

My grandson was visiting one day when he asked, “Grandma, do you know how you and God are alike?” I mentally polished my halo and I said, “No, how are we alike?’’ “You’re both old,” he replied.

When my grandson asked me how old I was, I teasingly replied, “I’m not sure.” His response, “Look in your underwear, Grandpa,” he advised, “mine says I’m 4 to 6.”

A 6-year-old was asked where his grandma lived. “Oh,” he said, “she lives at the airport, and when we want her, we just go get her. Then, when we’re done having her visit, we take her back to the airport.”

My Grandparents are funny, when they bend over; you hear gas leaks, and they blame their dog.

Here are some of our families favorite grandchildren quotes from over the years……

“Nana, if everyone knew how good your mac and cheese was you would be famous!” Abby age 8

Russell age 6- Asked for money to play games at local restaurant; Grandpa said, “Sorry, Russell–I’m broke”….Russell looked him up and down and said, “Aw Grandpa, you’re not even cracked!”

Thomas (my nephew) age 6-Years ago I had a toenail infection that kept me from wearing shoes for awhile. I knew my feet weren’t pretty but I didn’t realize how bad they looked until my nephew Thomas asked his dad, “Why does Aunt Teresa have a scary toe?”

Justin age 7, His mother to go check the basement to see what kind of shape it was in because company was coming. He looked at her and replied, “It’s the same shape as the last time I looked…a rectangle.”

Grady age 3 wants to talk to his grandmother (who he calls Mamba), but she is talking to his dad. Grady says to his dad, “I want to talk Mamba. you talk to That Guy” as he points to his Aunt Leah.

Emeline age 1-Emeline and her grandmother were riding together in the back seat of a car while someone else was driving. Emiline is sucking her thumb and wants her grandmother to read to her. ” You read. I suck,” instructs Emeline.

When Emeline turned 3 her mother was pregnant with Emeline’s younger brother. When Emeline asked about the baby she was told that some people say it’s a gift from God . Emeline thinks this over and says.”and what do the other people say?”

Finally, here’s something I said many years ago when I was a child. I don’t remember saying it but it was one of my mother’s favorite stories. I was a toddler and I was watching my aunt nurse my cousin. “What’s she doing?” I asked my mother. “She’s feeding the baby milk,” my mother answered. I thought for a moment then asked, “So is the other one tea?”

Remember I’m from the south and ice tea is at every meal except breakfast so it still seems logical to me!
