Gone With The Wind and Pitty Pat’s Porch

Gone With The Wind was published in 1936 and then made into a movie in 1940. I don’t know how many times I have watched it but I do know that in my opinion it’s one of the Top Ten Movies ever made  It received five regular Academy Awards and two special Oscars.

Gone With the Wind

For years I have tried in vain to get any of my 5 children to watch it. They simply aren’t interested. My daughter watched a little of it one night but because it’s a 4 hour film and she has two young children she can’t (or hasn’t tried) to find the time.

When we were in Atlanta recently we dined at Pitty Pat’s Porch. If you don’t know who Pitty Pat is you’ll have to watch the movie. The walls in the restaurant are adorned with pictures of scenes from the movie and I felt like I was seeing old friends again as I walked around and looked at them.

We sat upstairs and this was our view. The restaurant is located in downtown Atlanta and wasn’t far from the hotel where we stayed. In fact, it was so close we walked, which was a good thing considering how much we ate!

My granddaughter and I split an order of fried chicken and we each had more than enough. I passed on dessert but both my husband and my granddaughter ordered some and I tested each one.

My husband had the chocolate cake. I love chocolate and I thought this would be my favorite. It was delicious and I liked it but…..

This is my granddaughter’s dessert.  I took one bite and then another and then she stabbed at me with her fork and told me to get my own dessert. If I had to choose between the two desserts I would definitely pick this one. It was so good!
