Go Blue for Colon Cancer

Did you know that colon cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States?

Did you know that National Dress in Blue Day is tomorrow, Friday, March 2nd, 2012?

Did you know that you can help raise awareness?

That’s right, NanaHood friends and family. You can raise awareness about colon cancer, celebrate survivors, and help patients in need during National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month by participating in the Dress in Blue Day program.

Join the more than one million survivors, patients, caregivers, and others who have been affected by colon cancer by wearing blue and getting involved in the fight against this terrible disease.
Together, we can work toward a future free of colon cancer.

My Connection to Colon Cancer
My mom was 50 years old when she was diagnosed with colon cancer. Colon cancer is usually curable if it is caught early. Unfortunately, her’s wasn’t. She died in 1990 at the age of 51. Please get your screening. Especially if you have a family history of colon cancer, or if you have a history of stomach issues (which my mom did).

Screening may not be pleasant but cancer is worse.

These are two of my favorite photos from the Alliance web site.
