Girl’s Just Want to have Fun!

Tonight we ate dinner at a restaurant in a nearby town. We had some time to kill before Abby had to be home. Abby and her dad were in the car with me and we were discussing what we could do. I was driving and while her father and I were chatting, she started giving me directions.

“Turn here, Nana!” she said.

So I did.

“Go this way, Nana!”

So I did.

We ended up at a nail salon. My son and I looked at each other.

“I want to get my fingernails and toenails painted,” Abby said.

She’s six years old and taking me to a nail salon. I couldn’t believe it.

“Okay,” I said. “I guess it’s okay.”

We were the only customers in the place and the young couple couldn’t have been any nicer. Abby picked out the color of nail polish she wanted and informed me that we needed to match.

She insisted on sparkles and flowers (I passed) and when the lady turned the massage chair on Abby giggled and wiggled so much that they had to turn it back off until her toes were finished.

I have only had one previous pedicure and so I’m not very experienced at this, but I have to admit it was a fun way to spend time with my granddaughter.  While I didn’t get the sparkles or flowers, I did let Abby pick out the polish and Nana now has blue toes.

No pictures of Nana’s toes allowed!
