Family Date Night

Valentine’s Day was so much fun.

My parents always did something to make it a special day for us kids. We could always look forward to a cute card or a box or candy. I am trying to make memories such as this with my own kids. When they are grown, I want them to look back and know that they lived in a house full of love every day, but I also want to remind them it is okay to show it and have fun with it. So for our special Valentine’s Day this year it was family date night, but since it is a school night we had date night at home.

What does that mean? We fixed up the table with a pink tablecloth and candles. They made a sign for it and a menu and took their daddy’s “order” for supper. They loved it! We even had a special occasion meal and dessert! Fried chicken with all the fixins’ and chocolate covered strawberries! Let’s see, the menu at “Cupid’s Restaurant” actually included: Cupid Chicken, Cupid’s Crushed Potatoes, Apples Amore’, Cupid Carrots, Bashful Biscuits with Kiss Me Kola to drink. For dessert we had Strawberry Surprise and Pucker-Up Pecan Pie!

All this make-believe had my children giggling and I loved it! It is so wonderful to have my family around and see them happy. I love when my kids have their imaginations working in full speed. It was even nicer that there was no tv this afternoon and it was full valentine mode all evening!

I hope your day was filled with love. Whether you celebrated with dinner and a movie with your special someone, a quiet night in, or a night of remembering Valentine’s past, I hope you have love in your life! As for me, I enjoyed spending time with my valentines, all four of them!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Tiffany

When in Ghana I would make a pizza shaped like a heart! This year, I made Ghanaian food as a treat. I guess it is all about celebrating love memories! Love it! Blessings, Amy
