Dolly Parton “I Believe In You”

I have been a Dolly Parton fan for almost as many years as I’ve been alive. It’s not just her music that I love, it’s her heart. I’ve watched Barbara Walters interview Dolly and like Elvis said in his song, you just can’t help falling in love with her.

I adored her movie “9 to 5” and when Coat of Many Colors, a movie about Dolly’s life, came on television I couldn’t wait to see it. I watched it and loved it so much that I messaged all my friends and told them to be sure and watch.

Imagination Library

I am also a fan because of her Imagination Library. As a former teacher I’m a firm believer in the power of reading. The Imagination Library was founded in 1995 and is a book gifting organization that has, to date, mailed more than 100 million books to children in Australia, Belize, Canada, United Kingdom and the United States. Each month, the program currently mails more than one million specially selected, high-quality, age-appropriate books to registered children from birth until they start Kindergarten in participating communities. Five of my six grandchildren receive books from Dolly’s Imagination Library.

Dolly’s First Children’s Album

Now I have another reason to love Dolly. She’s joined with PledgeMusic to create an album specifically for children called “I Believe In You.” She wrote all the songs and the album includes a reading of “Coat of Many Colors.” Here’s one of the songs from the album and Dolly talking about why this is important to her.

This year marks 50 years since Dolly released her first album, and 20 years since Imagination Library was established; making the forthcoming album a special contribution to the singer/songwriter’s legendary career and the cause so close to her heart. With her PledgeMusic campaign, Dolly is inviting fans to join her in her dedication to promoting literacy and joy through music throughout America’s promising youth.

The song listing is as follows:

 1. I Believe in You

2. Coat of Many Colors (new recording)

3. Together Forever

4. I Am a Rainbow

5. I’m Here

6. A Friend Like You

7. Imagination

8. You Can Do It

9. Responsibility

10. You Gotta Be

11. Makin’ Fun Ain’t Funny

12. Chemo Hero

13. Brave Little Soldier

14. Bonus track spoken audio: Coat of Many Colors (book read by Dolly Parton)

Fans who pre-order the album via PledgeMusic will get the AccessPass, which will give them special access to exclusive items straight from Dolly. These include: an early digital download of the album; a custom outgoing voicemail recorded by Dolly herself, plus a CD and digital download; a Recording King RD-T16 guitar autographed by Dolly, and specially crafted to produce a vintage tone, deluxe hard case included; a signed tour laminate; and much more.
