Day 3 of Thanks-Cousins

Cousins.

You grow up with them. Share memories with them. And if you are very lucky continue to be best friends all through life.

“Cousins are many. Best friends are few. What a rare delight to find both in you.”

I was the oldest grandchild on both sides of the family. The next grandchild on both sides was also a girl, making my first first cousins Martha and Sarah. Although I am several years older than Sarah, we are still close and have a good relationship. There is only six months age difference between Martha and I and that has made us very, very close.

This week she’s here visiting me from Florida and last night we attended church together. It was so special to have her with me. We share so many memories of Christmas at our grandfather’s house, spending the night with each other, and growing up together.

Cousins are special and today I’m giving thanks for them.

Thank you, Lord, for cousins and grandparents who let us create memories and mayhem at their house!
