Day 20-Music

Day 20 of 30 Days of Thanks

Music

“And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.” Mark 14:26

Jesus was about to be crucified and he stopped with his disciples and sang a hymn. I have read this particular passage many times without noticing that they stopped and sang a hymn. A group of men…outside….knowing that something bad was going to happen. Yet, they stopped and sang a hymn.

Wow. I can visualize the solitude and stillness. A small group of men huddled together. The sound of their voices echoing across the land. Why would they stop and sing?

Songs can be prayers and praise. They show faith and gratitude. They can bring comfort and healing.

Thank you Lord for the gift of music!
