Wordless Wednesday and Wisdom
Posted by: | CommentsGrandmother Wisdom: Last Wednesday I shared some of my grandmother’s advice about what to do with pennies, this week I’m sharing something a reader sent in.
My grandmother had a saying that went,”Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise”. I surely didn’t inherit that trait because I am not a morning person! Even though the place I work requires me to be there at 7:00 am, I have never truly adjusted to it even after 20 years. I do my best work in the afternoons and evenings. So even though I have to force myself to “rise early” to get to work, maybe that will account for something in the old saying that she had. Always enjoy your stories on Nanahood!

Thanks, Lee Ann! How about you? What piece of advice did your grandmother share with you? Send it in to me at teresa@nanahood.com
Blessings to you,
Teresa

Words of Wisdom
Posted by: | CommentsThe last few weeks I’ve participated in “Wordless Wednesdays” which is photos only (or just a few words). I’ve decided to try something new that will combine the photo/a few words/ and nanas.
My nana, Grandma Layne, had tons of “sayings” that she used frequently in conversation. I believe these are called euphemisms (correct me if I am wrong). Some of her quotes are familiar ones that I still hear people say, and others I never hear (I suspect she made them up). I’m guessing your nana had a piece of advice or a quote that you associate with her too.
Send me a picture of your grandmother (if you don’t have one to send that’s okay) along with her quote and I’ll use it on Wednesdays. I will put part of the quote and leave some blanks to see if readers can guess the rest of the words. For example: A watched pot ________. I’m betting everyone knows that one.
To start things off I’m sharing one my grandmother said about pennies. She said it so many times I never see a penny without thinking about her. When I stepped out of my car this morning there was a penny on the ground which gave me the idea for Wednesday Words of Wisdom. Forgive me Wordless Wednesday fans for using so many words today but I had to explain my latest project to you!
Blessings to you and don’t forget to send me your nana’s words of wisdom!

Wordless Wednesday (sort of)-Can you still wear your prom dress?
Posted by: | CommentsI can’t, but my Aunt Kate can! She wore this same dress 44 years ago! Aunt Kate…you rock!!!!
FYI-My prom dress was pink with white polka dots. I looked like a walking strawberry milkshake! I got a stomach virus the night of prom, went anyway, got sick, left early. My date got the car stuck in my friend Kim’s front yard. It was pouring rain and the yard was muddy. He had on a white tux and when he tried to push it out of the mud I tried to help by hitting the gas…well you can guess what happened. We never went out again.
