A Website Promoting Adultery Is Just Plain Wrong

Just when I think the world can’t get any crazier….it does. Last week I read an article about a man who has started a web- site for people who want to have an affair.

Yep, you read that right. Married folks who want to cheat on their spouses can go to this web site and meet another cheater. According to their owner and founder, Noel Biderman, they have 8 million members.

I heard about this because I ran across an article saying that Mr. Biderman was furious because Fox television refused to air his website”s commercial during the Super Bowl. All I have to say about that is thank goodness someone had the guts to say “no” to a paid advertiser and I wish they said “no” more often!

The slogan for Mr. Biderman’s site  is “Life’s short, have an affair.” At least they got the first part right.

I wish I knew a way to get the filth off television. Now days even the commercials are so disgusting that even if you are trying to watch a decent program you still can be embarrassed by the advertising.

I hope Fox keeps saying “no” to Mr. Biderman and I wish every other television station would too, but my guess is he will find a place to advertise.  As long as he’s willing to pay there will be someone willing to take his money and spread his evil message.

  1. I agree that adultery is a bad faith move on the trust of a marriage. At the same time, because so many marriages are ending, because so many people have outside affairs, I suspect as a society we need to reassess what marriage means in this world. Perhaps, for most, it isn’t a lifelong commitment and shouldn’t be sold as such. “till death do us part” is a hard road when our life expectancy is so much longer that those who created such a vow.
Personally, I know my marriage will survive and stay strong even after one of us is widowed and has to bear the loss. But so many people just can’t do that and it may be asking too much of them, which in turn requires them to lie at the altar.
I wonder if legitimizing ‘serial monogamy’ even through marriage might be the future of commitment.

“till after the kids graduate from college do us part” or sign up for another 10 years….

  2. There seems to be something for everybody these days whose hearts aren’t set right. Makes me feel sad for ruined lives and marriages. Some people may just be seeing what the site is about but even that is wrong. I know someone who is affected by this right now and it’s not a pleasing thing to know lives of children are unhappy and will be forever hurt because of a dad who has chosen to follow the wrong path. Not to mention the mom who is left out! Prayers for these families!

  3. You are so right. I read today that the show Two and A Half Men has be delayed, no new episodes will be made this year. Thank goodness, that show really is sending out the wrong message to our young boys and men about how to treat women. I pray they will cancel it completely and quit airing reruns. 🙂
