A True Princess

By Tiffany

I am about to reveal my inner geek.  When the news came recently that George Lucas had sold Lucas Films to Disney I thought that was pretty cool.  When I found out that Disney was going to continue the Star Wars movie line I was very excited (maybe even more than my kids!). At our house Star Wars is a pretty big deal.

While discussing this recently (yes, serious discussions have taken place about the prospect of these movies between me, my husband and our boys) my youngest son told me he was worried. When I pressed him for why he told me he hoped Disney didn’t mess up Star Wars. “Really? What do you mean?”  And his reply was, “I don’t want Mickey Mouse in it.”  Our child is a true blue nerd already and you know what, I love it!

All this excitement added to the fact that I have another show coming this weekend for Faithfully Fun got me thinking about what new items I could make and what would be better than the newest Disney princess, Princess Leia!  I knew I had to attempt it, and I think she turned out pretty recognizable!

I love making these ribbon sculpture clips. Making the princesses that the little girls recognize is so much fun. Hearing the squeals of joy when they see their favorite is so fulfilling for me.

There is something that brings me even more joy, however. It is the knowledge that I, too, am a princess. I am royalty!  I am the daughter of the King of Kings and that is the most amazing thing in the world. So while I am super excited to show off Princess Leia and the new Princess Merida (Brave), I am even more excited to know who I am! I may now always act like royalty, but God thinks I am pretty special!

“He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords,”  1 Timothy 6:15b

“Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!” 1 John 3:1

P.S. I think Tiffany is pretty special too! Thanks Tiffany for all you do for NanaHood and thanks to Char, who is the technical guru who keeps NanaHood updated. I love and appreciate you both!
