Are You Prepared?

Whew, what a week! Getting ready for a craft show sure does take a lot of energy and it makes a mess too!

The good thing is that after Saturday things will get back to normal. The week before an event I am always so nervous. I want to be prepared for anything because when you are at a craft fair you can’t just run to the store and quickly grab something you may need. You have to have it ready to go.

Being prepared is something I learned from my father, who was always prepared for anything. A real outdoors man he taught us to make sure we always had what we needed. He would say, “Do you have extra batteries for the flashlight? Do you have the bug spray? Did you pack the umbrella?”

I really appreciate dad teaching me to be prepared now that I am a mom. I try to think of things I might need while we are gone: band-aids, baby wipes, change of clothes, Benadryl cream. With my three kids in tow I never know what might happen!

We need to be prepared spiritually as well.

It is the same with our spiritual lives. Are we taking the time to think about and be prepared for what comes next? Most of us don’t like to think about it but each day we live we are preparing for the next. We are laying a foundation for the rest of our lives and for what lies beyond. Are we building our relationships with strength and love? Are we growing closer to our Lord and using this life to glorify Him? Are we preparing our families to trust in Him and His will?

Jesus is preparing a place for us. He is making ready, but are we? Are we thinking about such things that have true merit and value for our lives?

“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” John 14:1-3

And just as I promised I prepared a few pictures to give you a sneak peek at the new items I am taking with me to the expo! A few new hair clips including a cute little puppy and Frankenstein for Halloween. Headband holders, Ribbon Wands, and a bushel of fresh apples just for the event! Plus so much more!

  1. Thanks for the thoughts. I remember when I did art/craft shows when I sold my photography. There was alot of things to think about taking, esp if it wasn’t close to home. I enjoyed them but sorta glad I don’t do them now. I am going to remember extra flash light batteries since I’m off to women’s retreat this weekend. Should be fun in the woods, away from everything. Truly time to relax and learn and enjoy friends. Hope your sale goes well!

  2. The craft fair sounds like fun. I live in Louisville, so BG is quite doable, however, I have to watch my nieces. My family is from Hart County! So cool to connect to a blogger so ‘close’. Have fun at the fair.
