Channel Surfing Can Be Dangerous

I just got home from church and I’m watching the American Music Awards.  One of the singers who won is thanking her fans and she’s told them at least five times how much she loves them.  Does she really love them?  I guess that depends on how you define the word “love.”  I’m sure she’s grateful that they like her music and maybe she likes the applause and attention, but “love” them?  I don’t think so.

I’m not criticizing this young girl because isn’t the only one who tosses the word “love” around as easily as if it were a feather pillow.  There’s always someone on a television commercial telling us they “love” this or that, while they try to convince us to purchase it.

It would be nice if when people said the word love, they really meant it. Don’t you think?

The American Music Awards

From CBS

Minaj launched the 39th annual fan-favorite ceremony with a performance featuring tethered back-up dancers, stilt-walking robots and super-producer David Guetta emerging from behind a pillar of speakers. The pink-haired singer – wearing a pair of speakers on her much-talked about posterior – kicked off the show with “Turn Me On” before launching into “Super Bass.” She returned to the stage shortly after, to accept the award for favorite rap/hip-hop artist.

I didn’t see the pink haired lady above perform. Considering what the front of this outfit looks like in the picture, I’m glad I didn’t see the back of it. How do you “wear speakers on your posterior”?  No, wait. Don’t tell me. I don’t really want to know.

Then it was J. Lo’s turn.

I couldn’t make myself watch Jennifer Lopez’s song and dance.  There’s something very wrong about coming home from church and watching someone strip their dance costume down to next to nothing and then do dance moves that would make anyone with a sense of decency and modesty blush.

Evidently I wasn’t the only one who didn’t like it.

From an online news source:

Jennifer Lopez gave what will surely be the most cringe-inducing, embarrassing performance of the night at Sunday’s American Music Awards with her “On the Floor.” It wasn’t that Lopez wasn’t really wearing any clothes, as audiences expect that nowadays. (ain’t that the truth?)

I turned the channel to something called The Amazing Race, I figured that was safe, right? They walked out in speedos and bikinis and started doing muscle flexes. Oooh-gross!

So I switched channels again, football. Okay, they all had their clothes on. They kept them on. Maybe I can learn to like this sport.

Or maybe I’ll just turn the television off and go to bed!

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
