Random Thoughts On A Saturday

This is our twins senior year in high school last night was their second game of the season. Last Tuesday we had our opening game and we won, but I was miserable. I had opening game jitters so bad that my stomach stayed tied up in knots. I was so tense that my neck and shoulders screamed “Take me to the chiropractor.”  So my main goal for last night’s game was to relax. I sat next to a friend from church and I told her at the beginning of the game that I intended to just have fun and enjoy the game and not be tense.

The game started with the opponent making a nine point run. We fought back but trailed by a few points most of the game. The fourth quarter we finally caught up and with a few minutes to go we had a one point lead. My intentions of remaining cool and collected were gone. I yelled. I screamed. I jumped up and down. We won by just a few points and when the last buzzer rang I sank to the bleachers in a hot, sweaty mess of nerves. My friend looked at me and laughed. “If that’s what you are like when you are relaxed I’d hate to see you when you are tense!” she said. Oh well, it may be an exhausting season.

Today is my cousin Martha’s birthday. Happy Birthday, to one of the most wonderful women in the world!

martha, kiera, David and Tyler
Nana Martha with daughter Kiera, son-in-law David and baby Tyler a few years ago.

This is not our weekend to have our granddaughter, but that doesn’t mean I am not thinking of her.

Her shirt says "I Bling Blue." Appropriate, don't you think?
